The Moon Cycle

When you are preparing yourself to do a ritual or cast a spell, it’s very important on which time you do it. The right time for a particular magical activity is connected to a moon phase, each of them giving you the potential for a better spell, when cast on the right time.

  • New Moon: Magic, connected to the new moon, can be done from the day of the new moon to 3½ days after. The new moon is for starting new beginnings, ventures. It is also for love and romance, health and job hunting.
  • Waxing Crescent (3½–7 days after the new moon)
  • Waxing Moon (1st quarter): From 7 to 10½ days after the new moon, the waxing moon is for constructive magic, such as love, wealth, success, courage, friendship, luck and health.
  • Waxing Gibbous (10½–14 days after the new moon)
  • Full Moon: From 14 to 17½ days after the new moon. Time for rituals for prophecy, protection, divination. Any working that needs extra power, such as help finding a new job or healing for serious conditions, can be done now. Also time for love, knowledge, money and dreams. The most powerful time for witches.
  • Waning Gibbous (17½–21 days after the new moon)
  • Waning Moon (3rd quarter): From 21 to 24½ days after the full moon, the waning moon is used for banishing magic, for ridding yourself of addictions, illness or negativity.
  • Waning Crescent (24½–28 days after the new moon)
  • Dark Moon: The time, when the Moon becomes completely dark, to the time, when it becomes again visible (new moon), is called the dark moon. This is a time for ridding yourself of bad habits, binding spells, for exploring our darkest recesses and understanding our angers and passions.
  • Lunar Eclipses: Celebration, special rituals.
  • Blue Moon: Is the second full moon in a month. Time for wishes and special requests.
  • Black Moon: The second new or dark moon in a month. Time of great power.
