I can’t wait for 14th February. Not because it’s Valentine’s Day, but because there is a proverb saying “St. Valentine brings the keys of roots.” That means, if you plant a seed before February the 14th, the plant you planted won’t grow. I decided that I will grow some basil and probably nothing else. All the other herbs I need are on my garden: sage, lavender, thyme, lemon balm, oregano… It is important, when you plant a seed. It is good, if you have a planting calendar, so you can know, when is the best time to plant a specific plant.
My granny has a nice rosemary in a big pot, which we move inside in winter, because it is too cold outside for rosemary to survive. Unfortunately, the rosemary may not make it until the spring. Granny said that a neighbour paid a visit and asked her, if she would be so nice and give her some lettuce from garden. Granny went for the lettuce and asked the neighbour to come with her, but she said that her legs hurt and can’t go all the way up the stairs, leading to the garden. When granny returned, the neighbour was tearing twigs from rosemary. She asked her what was she doing, and the neighbour said, that she just took some twigs from the rosemary to put them in a vase. Then she said goodbye, took the lettuce and left. After a few days, the rosemary’s leaves began to dry. Granny became furious. She said, that that neighbour is an evil witch and put an evil charm upon the rosemary. She doesn’t open the door to this neighbour since. My granny really hates witches and everything connected with them. That is because, she was raised on the countryside, where everybody is faithful to christianity, and believe that all magic is evil. Despite that, my granny and I get on very well. I think that rosemary is going to die because it’s old. I think that granny has it for more than 10 years now. It is also possible that the pot became too small for it. Anyway, I don’t really know what’s wrong, I just hope that it will survive.
